Man with a movie camera essay

Discuss how far your chosen films reflect aesthetic qualities associated with a particular film movement.  In both apprapodenise and man with a movie camera there are asthetic qualities that reflect different film movements and in this essay i will explore a few.  Roughly a third of the way through the film, Vertov uses a sequence involving trains and trams in order to celebrate communistic expansion and innovation in the Soviet Union. He praises this new technological advance via the use of muscular film making. The use of trains is a link to the lumiere brothers and how they presented real life through their work  and experimentation of different individual elements in film. This shows Vertov to be darring and a leader in the way of soviet montage. One of the ways this is most prevalent is through the use of split screen and a canted camera angle. This is reflective of the social hierarchy as the rich on the right get richer whilst the poor on the left g...

British film essay

How has an ideological critical approach given you a deeper understanding of binary opposites in the narrative of your chosen film? The ideological approach, of feminism is presented in we need to talk about Kevin; also in Fish tank. we gain a deeper insight into this, through the understanding of binary oppositions. Presented through the narratives in the films. This idea is presented in We need to talk about Kevin. In the scene in which we see Eva playing with Kevin they both resent different emotions qualities. We see Eva presenting emotion trying to connect with Kevin; but in opposition to that we see Kevin being closed an emotionless. Showing no emotion on his face, we see the both through over the shoulder shots then a medium shot to show the both of them staring at each other. this presents them both as binary opposites as Eva is wearing brighter clothes and is large in comparison to Kevin who is wearing dark blue and is very small. their postures are different, Kevin is ...

This debate centres on whether film should be a 'realist' or an 'expressive' medium. In other words, should a filmmaker be concerned with representing the world as is-for example, in the manner of a documentary-or should a filmmaker regard the medium as a creative one in which the everyday world is transformed? The Lumiéres Brothers conceived of this new invention as one for recording found reality and in so doing encouraging the spectator to gaze freshly on a world that might otherwise be taken for granted. By contrast George Mél...

discuss how aesthetic’s are used to communicate themes in City of god & Pand Labyrinth make references to specific sequences in your answer The use of sound helps to create meaning in pans labyrinth by giving the spectator a good idea of the feel of the scene. An example of a  scene where this is done is in the pale man scene. The use of the soundscape of the labyrinth this is the creepy noises in the background, this dissonance shows the audience that it is a old creepy place which is unwelcoming and has not been entered in a very long time. the way this is done is through the change of music from when she is in her bedroom to when she enters the labyrinth, it goes from quite and slow music to loud and fast music. This is then further emphasised by the foreboding noise that sounds as though it could be coming from the Pale man, by using the Asynchronous sound it helps to give them more interest by not letting them see it further emphasises the idea of the labyr...
